16 kg snatch: 60L/60R, 4 minutes each arm - 8 min set. (dedicated to AKC)
60 kg barbell squat: 5/5

I haven't worked snatches for a while now. Despite of this, today was my personal best. I wonder if there is a transfer from jerks. And as I seldom go for long jerk sets either, there should be some transfer from interval-style jerks to GS-style snatches. It would be interesting to hear OTWers' explanations.

Eugene it seems like you progress quite quickly. Congrats to the snatch pr!
I am only a recent proselyte to the OTW - so one of the elders could explain the carryover of jerk to snatch better.
This summer, however, I did only one brief snatch day per week. Rest was jerks and some swings. Snatches progressed just as when I had several snatch days and less jerk days(and shoulders felt better).

Jerks fix any tendenct to waver overhead - true rest (support/balance of bell over skeletal system) becomes possible. Plus , jerks reinforce the correct palm position of the bell.

No magic or secrets involved!

Alexander, your observation may something to do with the frequency of training phenomenon which was discussed in early post here. In some cases less is definitely more.

Paul, you are right as always. Jerks are just so hard and have such strong training effect that there is definitely some transfer to other lifts. This effect will probably be more impressive in beginners like me that in highly qualified athletes.

Thanks for the comments.
